Operation Baby Blanket was founded on June 11, 2004, as a support system for the new and expecting mothers whose husbands are servicemen that have been or soon will be deployed overseas. This organization wants to help these ladies that are often left out of the support system, when their husbands are deployed. We use an adoption program that matches up a sponsor to a mommy for the duration of her husband's deployment and until the baby is born.
We also have two projects:
Mommy Packets, which consist of a baby blanket, hat and a dozen announcements, are currently sent to four base hospitals; Ft. Benning, Georgia, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, and San Diego Naval Medical Facility in California.
Kabul Blankets, which consist of receiving blankets, new or gently used, are being sent to our contact at a military hospital in Kabul. These blankets are distributed for the new babies in Afghanistan.
